Allen Schaeffer is Executive Director of the Diesel Technology Forum, the nation’s leading advocate for clean diesel technology; a position he has served since October 2000.

Frequently quoted in national news media such as the New York Times, CNN, USAToday, CBS Radio, NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, Fox News, Schaeffer also has testified before both houses of the US Congress and many state legislatures on a variety of matters affecting diesel engines.

From 1987 through 2000, he served as Vice President of Environmental Policy at the American Trucking Associations (ATA), where he represented the industry in legislative and regulatory policy matters at the national level and was principal advisor to 60 affiliates at the state and regional level.   

Schaeffer was also appointed to serve on EPA’s Federal Advisory Committee Subcommittee on Ozone, Particulate Matter and Regional Haze in 1997. 

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland College Park and a Master of Environmental Health Sciences degree from Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
