Dr. Melanie Marty

Chief of the Air Toxicology and Epidemiology Section,

California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment

 

Dr. Melanie Marty is Chief of the Air Toxicology and Epidemiology Section in the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment at Cal/EPA.  Her section is responsible for health effects assessments of toxic air contaminants, and for guidance on risk assessment of airborne toxicants from stationary sources in California. In addition, her section makes health-based recommendations for California's Ambient Air Quality Standards.  Staff of the section also conduct epidemiological investigations of the health effects of exposure to criteria air pollutants including PM and ozone. Dr. Marty is also responsible for implementing the children's environmental health protection activities in Cal/EPA related to assessing the health impacts of air toxics and criteria air pollutants on infants and children.

 

Dr. Marty has a doctoral degree in Toxicology from the University of California, Davis, and has been working in the air quality area for the state of California for 18 years.
