Alan Karkkainen,

Director of Engine Technologies,

International Truck and Engine Corporation.

Alan is currently Director Future Technologies COE (Center on Excellence), at International’s Technical Center in Melrose Park, Illinois, reporting to Vice-President, Engine Engineering. This group is responsible for identifying and developing emerging technologies suitable for incorporation into advanced engine models such that International maintains its leadership position in Diesel engine product offerings.

Alan has 30 years experience in Diesel engine development and design at Melrose Park, including 3 years as Chief Engineer at the (former) Neuss Germany Technical Center. Areas of specialty include engine emissions reduction, fuel systems, and after-treatment. He graduated from Michigan Technological University with a BSME degree in 1974.
