Stephanie R. Williams

Stephanie Williams is the Vice President of the California Trucking Association.  She has been at CTA since 1990, working first as the staff statistician, then as the Manager of Research & Environmental Policy, then Director of Environmental Affairs, next Vice President of Environmental Affairs.

 

Within CTA, Ms. Williams is responsible for managing the legislative, political and regulatory affairs as well as all grassroots activities.  Specifically, she identifies and responds to hostile legislative and regulatory proposals as well as working to develop local trucking relationships with elected officials.  She develops and advocates for legislative and regulatory proposals that have been adopted by the CTA Board of Directors, which is made up of 108 companies.

 

As Executive Director of the Transportation Research Education Development Foundation (TRED) which is dedicated to procuring grants and raising money to fund university research grants for trucking issues, she has participated in many environmentally oriented trucking studies.

 

CTA positions are developed by the democratic vote of members selected annually to serve on internal committees and conferences.  Ms. Williams staffs the Waste Hauler Conference, Petroleum Tank Truck Carriers Conference, the Environmental Policy Committee and both Political Action Committees. 

 

Ms. Williams is responsible for interface with the Cal-EPA Cabinet and its related boards and departments.  She serves as CTA’s communications strategist and media spokesperson in this area. She prepares written comments and oral testimonies before federal, state, and local government agencies. Stephanie organizes member companies and assists in writing volunteer member testimonies, along with preparing members to address regulatory and legislative bodies.

 

Stephanie's formal education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a focus on Decision Sciences and Information Systems from California State University, Fresno. She also has a minor in Mathematics and Chemistry and has completed graduate work in Statistics and Public Policy at the University of California at Davis and Golden Gate University.
