EMISSION SOURCE TYPE: |
Miscellaneous - Marine Coating Operations |
| CONTROL TYPE: |
BARCT/RACT |
KEY POLLUTANT: |
VOC |
| DESCRIPTION(S):
|
|
PLEASE REFER TO THE FOLLOWING FOR DETAILED RULES OR INFORMATION:
|
a) Limits VOC emissions from marine coatings by
limiting VOC content of coatings to between 275-650 grams per liter
depending upon product. Requires use of non-VOC materials for surface
preparation and equipment cleaning. Allows use of specified air pollution
control equipment which captures VOC emissions associated with coating,
cleaning, and surface preparation, in lieu of use of low-VOC coatings and
non-VOC materials used in cleaning and surface preparation. Applies to new,
existing and modified sources. |

b) Limits VOC emissions from marine coatings by
limiting VOC content of coatings to between 275-340 grams per liter, and for
specialty coatings, between 275-610 grams per liter depending upon product.
Limits VOC emissions from surface preparation to 50 grams per liter. Allows
use of specified air pollution control equipment which captures VOC
emissions associated with coating, cleaning, and surface preparation, in
lieu of use of low-VOC coatings and surface preparation, provided the use of
such equipment does not exceed specified limits and achieves a control
efficiency of at least 85%. Applies to new, existing and modified sources. |

c) Limits VOC emissions from marine coatings to between
275-340 grams per liter depending upon whether the coating is baked or air
dried; and for specialty coatings, limits emissions to between 275-780 grams
per liter depending upon product, and whether the product is baked or air
dried. Allows use of specified air pollution control equipment which
captures VOC emissions associated with coatings, in lieu of use of low-VOC
coatings, provided the use of such equipment does not exceed specified
limits and achieves a control efficiency of at least 85%. Applies to new,
existing and modified sources. |

d) Limits ROC emissions from marine coatings to between
275-340 grams per liter depending upon whether the coating is baked or air
dried; and for specialty coatings, limits emissions to between 340-780 grams
per liter depending upon product. Allows use of specified air pollution
control equipment which captures ROC emissions associated with coatings, in
lieu of use of low-ROC coatings, provided the use of such equipment achieves
a control efficiency of at least 85%. Also specifies conditions for surface
preparation and cleanup. Applies to new, existing and modified sources. |
